Each year the Waco Pride Network hosts the Out on Brazos festival to celebrate Waco’s LGBTQ community and its allies. The celebration features musical performances, food trucks, vendors and community. The event takes place in October of each year to commemorate national coming out day (also it's HOT in Waco in June).
In 2017, the Out on the Brazos Planning Committee came together to relaunch Waco Pride. What began as a picnic grew to an event that hosted between two hundred and four hundred people in Cameron Park and received substantial local coverage. (More on the first Out on the Brazos can be found here: Waco Tribune-Herald)
In 2018, the Waco Pride network was officially organized and launched as a non-profit to host the Out on the Brazos event. Despite inclement weather the event was attended by 250 people over three hours. (More on the second Out on the Brazos can be found here: Waco Tribune-Herald)
Planning for Out on the Brazos 2019 is well underway! We're seeking vendors, sponsors, food trucks, volunteers, student groups, community groups, welcoming houses of faith, speakers, poets, performers and more! If you are interested in helping with this year's event, especially in any of the above ways, please contact Lincoln Crowder, Chair of the Planning Committee.
