Warriors Research Institute at Baylor Scott & White
InformationThe Warriors Research Institute provides a community resource available for veterans and veteran family members (includes those currently serving in the Guard, Reserves, or Active Duty, as well as their families and surviving spouses), if you’d like to add to the resource list on your website. We (the Warriors Research Institute at Baylor Scott & White) provide free, evidence-based mental health treatment via telehealth to veterans and veteran family members anywhere in the state of Texas. This clinical service project is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance. I’ve included some highlights below:
Clients are scheduled for their first treatment session within 1-2 weeks, with the option to be seen as early as the same-day.
Confidential, one-on-one, mental health treatment is provided via live video calls.
Clients attend therapy sessions using a personal electronic device (smartphone, computer, etc.), at a private location of their choice (no waiting room, time to travel to appointments).
A menu of evidence-based treatments is offered to treat the most common mental health challenges (i.e. depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, alcohol and substance use problems). Treatment is provided at no-cost to the clients.
Insurance is not billed for services; treatment is provided with grant funding from the Texas Veterans Commission.
Clients are reporting decreases in depression and PTSD symptoms, increases in quality of life, as well as high satisfaction with the telehealth platform and with their therapists.
All staff undergo cultural awareness training and supervision with a retired veteran who is a Licensed Professional Counselor.
